Crime Writers in Conversation

Bestselling crime writers Ruth Ware (Lying Game), Julia Crouch (Her Husband’s Lover) and Colette Mcbeth (An Act of Silence) took to the stage on 10 March 2018, with Patrick Easter (Watermen) chairing the event.

More than 50 people were entertained and inspired by their discussion. Topics ranged from plotting (don’t; do and use software; or do, but use a few meters of butcher paper) to the writing habits (using a computer; writing every day).

We threw open our newly renovated shop to the crowd, who sipped Madeira and met the authors after the talk. A lovely day, with terrific books and fascinating discussion – thanks to all who came, and thanks to all the authors for taking part!

A Fizzy Night!

Author Jonathan Ray was both entertaining and informative, taking to the stage on 6 February to share favourite fizz tales with almost 50 appreciative fans.

Jonathan provided five different bottles of fizz for us to sample. The Drinks Editor of the Spectator discussed his father’s influence; the little-known pleasures of sweet champagnes; the qualities of Sussex bubbly; and much more, besides.
